Screenshots:

GLIK comes with multiple skins, each with its own set of features.  You can pick and choose which skin best fits your needs.  Here are screenshots of the various skins:

Full Spectrum  - This is the standard tuning skin GLIK ships with as default.  The upper boxes show the tuning of the string being plucked, and where the string's tuning lies within the full spectrum of that tuning.  The skin also comes with an input volume meter.

Full Spectrum Black - same functionality as Full Spectrum, but in black.  This is useful for that last minute tune up backstage when you don't want to draw attention to yourself with a blazingly bright smart phone screen!

Vintage - mimicks the look of vintage electronic equipment, complete with vintage scales, knobs, switches.... and a nixie tube!

Simple - When all you need is a simple tuner without clutter, this would be it.  Big green light in the centre means you're in tune.  Big red light on the left means you're flat, and big red light to the right means you're sharp.  Simple.

Numbers - Strictly for those with a head for numbers!  This skin shows the detected and the desired frequencies.  It also shows the equation used to convert the non-linear frequency scale into linear cents.  All this floats on a sea of scrolling numbers taken from the phone's A/D convertor in real-time.

Step 2 - Select a skin

GLIK ships with Full Spectrum as the default skin.  However, you can change to a skin you like by touching the skin selection button.  The skin selection menu pops up from where you choose your new skin.  This new skin becomes the default at the next start up.

Step 3 - Select your tuning

Guitars can be tuned to various tunings.  The most common being the so-called standard tuning (E, A, D, G, B, E).  GLIK ships with the standard tuning as the default.  You can change the tuning by touching the tuning selection button and selecting a new tuning.  This new tuning becomes the new default.

Step 4 - Proceed to a quiet place

GLIK, like most guitar tuners, might get confused when there is a large amount of background noise.  Tuning stability improves in quiet environments.

Step 5 - Tune up

Keep an eye on the cents needle or scale.  This will indicate if you are flat (negative number) or sharp (positive number).  The greater the number, the further out of tune your instrument is.  A cents number less than 10 and greater than -10 can be safely considered in tune.

GLIK has two modes of tuning:  Auto or manual.

In Auto mode, GLIK automatically determines which string you are tuning.  In Manual mode, you have to specifiy which string you are tuning.  All skins will show the notes of each of the 6 strings on your instrument.  Touching the correct one will tell GLIK that you are trying to tune that particular string.

You can toggle between auto and manual modes by pressing the auto/manual button.

In certain cases, GLIK's tuning needle or scale becomes jumpy or inaccurate.  This could be due to background noise.  In this case, you may choose to activate the speaker to playback the sound of the note being tuned.  You can then tune your instrument according to the sound being played back.

To enable speaker playback of the note, you must first be in manual mode.  Then select the speaker on/off button.  Do note that if the playback volume is too low, you can increase it using your phone's volume control.

Step 6 -  Close GLIK

Selecting the back,  home or screen lock button on your phone (phone dependent) will automatically shut GLIK down completely.  It will not reside in the background using up resources.
